CONSCIOUS DANCE

Movement is our nature. All life is movement.

Before we walked, talked, or drew our first breath - we were in motion. Movement-like music-is a universal language that spans cultures and time.

If you are alive - you are dancing.

What is Conscious Dance?

Conscious Dance is an intentional movement practice that brings awareness into the body in real time. It invites us to move-not to perform, impress or perfect-but to feel, to listen, to express, to reconnect. There are no steps to follow. The dance is the teacher. Your body becomes the guide.

As we move with breath, rhythm, curiosity and presence, we access layers of ourselves that the thinking mind can’t reach. Patterns loosen. Emotions shift. Insight surfaces. We return to a more authentic, grounded state of being. Many people experience Conscious Dance as a healing, transformative, even spiritual practice- one that strengthens emotional intelligence, resilience and connection to self and community.

We accept ourselves as relational beings (to all and everything around us.. seen and unseen), and get curious about how to dance this delicate dance of life-in-a-body in these times.

What is Open Floor Movement Practice?

Open Floor is a resource-based movement practice grounded in somatic, mindful, and relational intelligence. It supports us to move with whatever life brings-whether joy, fear, grief, vitality, exhaustion, or expansion.

On the Open Floor, we explore four core domains of our humanity: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.

Through movement, we learn how these aspects of ourselves interact, influence, and support one another. We cultivate embodied resources-ways of moving and relating that help us stay present, centred, and connected both on and off the dance floor. We explore following impulse, setting boundaries, opening to connection, resting, reviving, and responding rather than reacting.

We explore the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of who we are - through the moving body.

Why These Practices Matter

In a world that often pulls us away from ourselves, Conscious Dance, Heart Dance, and Open Floor bring us back - to our breath, our bones, our truth, our capacity to feel, our tenderness, and our courage.

Movement becomes medicine.

Presence becomes possibility.

This practice supports people committed to using embodied movement to cultivate authenticity, emotional intelligence, and resilience. Open Floor is a resource-based approach where we explore new ways of moving, responding with intention, and understanding our habits and patterns. The more we embody different responses in our bodies, the more we can navigate life with flexibility, strength, and ease.

All Movement Heals

Presence. Awareness. Authenticity.

These are innate universal states of being. At times we are able to embody these qualities with effortless ease & grace.. Other times they seem to be overshadowed or inaccessible, buried by stories, grief, patterns of behaviour and life's general "noise".

This 'being-human", is a journey of uncovering, discovery & recovery. There are many paths & tools offered along the way that can enable us to rest a little, reflect a little and if the space is safe enough, unpack a little of the emotional stuff which might have taken a lifetime to accumulate & settle on our shoulders, get stuck in our necks, stagnate in our organs or take up residence in our souls.

For me, the most direct & effective form of revealing, recognising & releasing held patters or stories lodged in my body is to MOVE. Like the tightly wound garden hose, I shake out, dance out all the knots & kinks allowing fresh vital energy to flow through me once again. The practice of embodied movement; moving freely with awareness whilst grounded in present moment, can be an extremely powerful & liberating process. This is: Conscious Dance.

Why We Dance

We have always danced.

Every culture on earth has its roots in dance. We dance in celebration, ceremony and communion.

We dance for joy and have danced in times of personal and collective grief. We have danced before battles, danced in prayer, danced to vanquish enemies and to summon the gods. Being human means we are engaged in the dance of life. There have always been sacred Women's dances, Men’s dances, children’s dances and dances of initiation. We danced before a hunt and in hope of rain. We danced for peace and for a good harvest. We have danced in celebration of the seasons, births, deaths and marriages. We dance to connect. To ourselves, to each other, to our community and sometimes, we dance to connect to something larger - the ‘god’ of your choosing.

Dance helps us feel like we BELONG.Dance is one of the most direct and liberating ways to recognise and release the stories, patterns and emotions that settle in our bodies over a lifetime. Even the smallest gesture can become a doorway into your inner landscape. Courage meets surrender. Mystery meets my story. Whatever emerges - joy, grief, wildness, stillness, confusion or bliss- is welcome.
